World Book Day 2023

Lesson: English

To celebrate World Books Day 2023 we held a number events to celebrate reading.

The week began with an inspiring visit from local author Sarah Oliver. She spoke to the children about how she became an author, her struggles, and what inspired her. She shared her books with us and taught us a little about the publication process.

On World Book Day itself we hosted 'The Big Booky Breakfast' for KS1 children and their families and a 'Book and a Brew' for KS2 children and their families. During these events we had recommeded books tables and a book swap available to browse; we invited buddy readers in so our oldest and youngest children could read together; and we had a prize draw for each class to win a book token for our upcoming Book Fair. The event was a huge success and it was incredible to see so many of our families and children enjoying social reading time with us.
