Fisher Friends PTA
Welcome to the Fisher Friends Page
Welcome back to the new school year. We hope to bring you some new events this year in addition to existing regular events.
For new parents who are not familiar with who we are and what we do, here is a brief outline. Fisher Friends is St John Fisher school's parent and teacher association (PTA). We are a registered charity whose main aim is to raise much needed funds to spend on your children. As some of you may be aware, each year the Archdiocese presents the school with a bill for the school levy which helps to maintain Catholic schools throughout the diocese. For our school this bill is currently £1700 per year. As you can imagine it takes a great deal of fundraising to cover this amount which is why the support of all of our parents is so important. Additionally, we help out with the cost of school trips and this year we hope to be able to contribute to the cost of the residential trips for years 2,4 and 6. Every penny raised is spent on your children and our success very much depends on the generosity of our staff who give up their time and on you, our amazing parents who donate cakes, gifts etc. for our events. We have a few parents who help out on a regular basis but we are always in need of more help so if you are interested in joining us please come along to one of our meetings or alternatively any time you are in school just ask at the office to speak to one of the staff Fisher Friend members.
Fisher Friends contributions
This school year has seen Fisher Friends PTA donate £5 for every child in school towards school trips, either a day trip or residential. While this may not seem much in itself, when you consider that we have over 200 children it does amount to a substantial contribution. In addition to this, the PTA also provide the party for the Holy Communion children and the leavers disco and party for the year 6 children.
Summer Fare and Enterprise Day
This year's summer fare was another great success with lovely weather allowing us to have all stalls outside. It was amazing to see the results of the children's enterprise week - all the classes worked really hard to produce something to sell and all made a good profit from their £10 start up fund provided by the PTA. In total we raised £2000 which is a record! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those family members who volunteered to help set up or run a stall. It was a bit chaotic at times but the end result was worth it.
